What made you want to become a cheerleader?
“I like trying new things. I really enjoy cheerleading because it involves flipping, which I like to do. I just like being active and staying busy.”
Have you ever tried cheerleading before you came to Hazleton?
Yes, I was a cheerleader for two years before I began cheerleading at Penn State.
How did you learn to flip? Did it take long for you to get your flip down perfectly?
I learned to flip by watching my family members back in Jamaica. I was very interested in learning how to flip like them so I began practicing on my bed. When I got the hang of it a bit I began to practice flipping in the grass. I fell all the time; I’d fall on my neck, my head, and my back. I’ve even sprained my wrist and ankles, but I kept at it. Now I hardly fall at all.
You’re always surrounded by beautiful ladies since you’re of course one of the only male cheerleaders, does cheerleading help you get the ladies?
Being a male cheerleader and working so closely with a lot of females helps me understand the way they think and express themselves.
